The Voice of a Master: An Edison recording of Sir Arthur Sullivan

The link above will take you to the Gilbert and Sullivan Archives page featuring a recording from October 5, 1888 of Sir Arthur Sullivan.  Sullivan was in attendance at a Phonograph Party held by Mr. George Gouraud, featuring the new phonograph of Thomas Edison.  There has been some question about the validity of this recording, but from what I have found, these questions have not been sufficient enough to cause the removal of it from the Archives.  It is a wonderful piece of history, to hear the actual voice of a Victorian composer.
